These are dishes that have stood the test of time, some such as our very own Lancashire hotpot, date back to the 1800s, where this simple but hearty meal would have been left slowly to cook all day, ready for hungry cotton workers at the end of their long day. This along with others such as stew and dumplings, shepherds pie and beef wellington are all steeped in history but remain British classics!
